Halo-8 Entertainment has slated award-winning director Matt Pizzolo (upcoming GODKILLER, THREAT) and Emmy-winning producer Brian Giberson to create an “illustrated film” adaptation of “XOMBIE: REANIMATED,” a horror/sci-fi adventure comic book created by James Farr, published by Devil’s Due Publishing, and produced by Epic Level Entertainment in a deal that marks the second collaboration between Halo-8 and Farr after XOMBIE: DEAD ON ARRIVAL was released by the studio in March. Halo-8 has scheduled the new film for production in early 2010 (after Pizzolo and Giberson complete their work on Tim Seeley’s LOADED BIBLE), with a theatrical release planned for later in the year.

The Toronto singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist crafts her own brand of sparkling, otherworldly electro-pop that is, in her words “soft, but not pussy-soft, you know?” LIGHTS’ songs have already garnered almost 16 million plays on MySpace, and she has racked up a #1 hit on MuchMusic, inclusion in a series of Old Navy commercials, and airtime on The Hills. On the strength of her self-titled EP alone, LIGHTS won the 2009 Juno (the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy Award) for New Artist of the Year, joining the ranks of Feist and Nelly Furtado.

*DVD Review* The Hills Run Red (2009)

Relax, it’s not a rip-off sequel to the rip-off remake (or sequel) of The Hills Have Eyes. Nor is it any relation to the spaghetti western of the same name. And, surprisingly enough, Dave Parker’s The Hills Run Red isn’t just your average brain-dead direct-to-video splatterfest aimed at the teens — it actually has some meat on its bones.

*DVD Review* The Revenge Of The Crusader

Mya Communication really deserves an award. Not only have they successfully picked up where the now-defunct NoShame Films distribution company left off, but they have since catered solely to lovers of Euro films (mostly the Italian ones). The giallo, horror, western, and sex comedy genres have been given a new lease on life in America thanks to Mya’s commitment. Another favorite genre of Mya’s is the Peplum film — better known as “sword and sandal” to Stateside aficionados.
